Today is Shrove Tuesday. Traditionally this was the day that the people used up their stocks of flour, sugar and spices before the Lenten fast which begins on Ash Wednesday. Shrove Tuesday pancake feasts have remained an enduring tradition for obvious reasons. We are bless in our church that we have people with good equipment and skills to make the best pancakes in town. Thin, light and delicious! Best of all is the sugar and cinnamon. The second choice was a chicken filling for those who didn't eat at home first. :-)
And so begins the forty days of Lent. A time to reflect on one's life and recommit to God's way in the days leading up to Easter. May it be a blessed time for those who observe the season.
